Californa is the golden state.
It is the land of the gold rush
and of the film industry
who makes a fortune
with setting suns and warm-toned colours.
The sheer amount of light is incredible;
I guess it is more than four times as much
as in Germany, yielding four times faster shutter speeds.
California is also the state of the poor.
For a foreign observer,
there are incredibly many poor people
who are sleeping on the streets
and begging for money and food. Californien ist der goldene Bundesstaat der USA. Es ist der Staat des Goldrausches und der Filmindustrie, die ein Vermögen mit untergehenden Sonnen und warmen Farben macht. Die bloße Menge an Licht ist unglaublich; ich denke, es ist vier Mal so viel wie in Deutschland — vierfach kürzere Verschlußzeiten beim Fotografieren.
Californien ist auch der Staat der Armen.
Als ausländischer Betrachter
fallen einem unglaublich viele arme Leute auf,
die auf den Straßen schlafen
und um Geld und Essen betteln. |
